Hi Team, Would like to know when is the expected date for you to update the changes? Also may I know which section has the most changes so that I can focus on other sections with less change
Hi megatdanial, Salesforce has added (a few only), modified, and merged objectives here and there. We are currently working on these changes and will be releasing the updates in a few weeks.
Hi, the content will be updated gradually over the next few weeks. Our priority is with the brand new topics like Platform Events. A lot of the others are similar to the previous objects, the wording was just updated or scenarios were added to the objective. UI has the most changes and also increased a lot in weighting from 10 to 25%.
Hello,
I noticed that the pattern of this exam has been changed, i have booked my exam in 2 weeks time , should i expect exam with new pattern?
Hi, there was a big update on PD1 a few days back, and we’re not sure will the exam change right away. Anyway, PD1 will be our top priority for the update on both Study Guide and practice exams in the next few weeks, so you can reschedule the exam for free up to 3 days before the exam.
It looks like the exam patameters changed a lot. https://trailhead.salesforce.com/en/help?article=Salesforce-Certified-Platform-Developer-I-Exam-Guide
Hi Martin, that’s true, we will start working on the PD1 update from tomorrow.
Hi Martin, there are a huge weight change on the exam outline for dev 1, UI will be 25% in total, could you please have a look on it and make a update?
Hi Hao, this huge update was a surprise to us too, and PD1 will be our top priority in the next few weeks!
I noticed that the exam parameters/percentage mix changed on Thursday. Do you think there is enough UI coverage in the current study guide to be prepared for the exam? I am planning on Wednesday. Thanks!
Hi Joann, thanks for noticing that and letting us know. As the percentages changed just a few days ago, and as the exam won’t change to Spring ’20 until April, we don’t think it should be a problem to take the exam, but it’s still up to you to decide.
Great! Thank you!
Hi Joann, as we discussed today, we’re really not sure anymore will the changes be included in the exam. Since they apply to Winter ’20 after all, it’s possible that it will apply to the exam right away. These changes are surprising to us too, and our update on PD1 will be our top priority in the next days and weeks.
The content for this course no longer matches the winter 20 release, for example, User Interface now accounts for 25%. Is there a timeline for updating this content and the practice exams?
Hi Martin, thanks for letting us know about that. The thing is that the percentages changed just a few days ago, but the exam shouldn’t be changed to Spring ’20 until April, so we will work on new release updates in the following weeks.
wouldn’t it be nice to have estimated completion time on each section?
Hi K Ali, thanks for the suggestion. However, it will be difficult to provide an estimate on completion time as the learning pace for each user will vary depending on multiple factors such as technical background or experience, reading and comprehension skills, etc., which is not going to be the same for everyone. We decided not to have this feature in place.
I just passed the Platform Dev 1 on my 2nd attempt. On my first attempt I just used the trailmix on trailhead, which works great in tandem with this guide and the practice tests. If you are attempting to begin with no knowledge of Salesforce at all, like I did, I think the best way to go through studying is to go through this study guide first and take notes, without looking at any of references so you can understand I high level first. You’re not going to be able to remember everything, but I think the best method is to go over topics multiple times, each time on a different level. After you go through the entire thing, do some trailheads. Then go through this again but look at the references. You need to know a lot of information for the test, so going into the nitty gritty right away is not going to be very efficient as you won’t understand what you’re reading.
Thanks FoF for the help!
Thanks for your advice!
This study guide is all visualforce focused. Has the test not been updated to include AURA or LWC components?
Hi Colleen, regarding Lightning Components, we have updated our study guide and practice exams to match with the PD1 exam objectives which require one to have good understanding of what they are and their benefits, as well as the resources they contain.
The exam is VF focused in my recent experience.
I have successfully passed Platform Developer 1 with good score. thanks to Force.com for highlighting important sections and it was helping factor for me to knock down this from my list.
Congrats on passing PD1, we’re happy to hear that our materials helped.
