I guess it is just a feedback. I did the test last friday and I noticed that 4 questions were related to “Implement” vs “Extend”, basically what is the right way but to also when to use implement or extend. I couldnt find during my studies that reference. Maybe I missed something. Can you point me to the right direction? I plan to study this topic so I can try again to take the exam

    1. Ian

Hi Luciano, thank you for the feedback. The “implements” keyword is covered in detail on the “Declare variables, constants, methods, and use modifiers and Apex interfaces.” study guide. We mention the “extends” keyword in the study guide “Given a scenario, follow best practices to write Apex classes and triggers.” only to describe how to use it in a class definition syntax-wise. We’ll have the study guide reviewed for an update. If you haven’t yet, please try our code exercise (https://focusonforce.com/topic/code-exercises/) as the topic is also covered there.

      Hi Luciano,
“Implements” are directly related to interfaces, so you’ll want to review implementing interfaces on apex classes. Extending I have found can be related to Virtual and Abstract Apex classes, but also is related to Exception handling where a custom exception extends the Exception class. The concept of extending classes probably showed up more than you expected because some of it was related to Abstract/Virtual classes (and possibly them trying to trick you on Interface implementation questions) and also Exception handling.
Hope this provides some useful feedback rather than just telling you where to review the concepts in the study guide.

  2. Manmohan Gargani

    Hi everyone,

I recently took the Salesforce Platform Developer I (PD1) certification exam, but unfortunately, Webassessor indicates that I did not pass. Here are my section-level scores:

    Developer Fundamentals: 71%
    Process Automation and Logic: 52%
    User Interface: 92%
    Testing, Debugging, and Deployment: 75%
I understand that the passing score for the exam is 65%, but based on my section-level performance, I estimated that I might have achieved a passing score. For example, in the Process Automation and Logic section, I got 9/18 correct answers (52%).

Could someone help me better understand how the final score is calculated or why I might not have passed? If you’ve encountered a similar situation, I would really appreciate your insights or guidance on what to do next.

Thank you so much for your time and support!

    1. Ian

Hi Manmohan, thanks for the inquiry. Based on the category weighting, it seems that your scores should be sufficient to pass the exam. Using the example score checker here: https://focusonforce.com/salesforce-certification-score-checker/, your result yields 72% when the passing score is only 68%. Therefore, we advise you to personally reach out to the webassessor team as there may be additional factors that have been considered in computing the final result of your exam. At the same time, we are hoping that there is only a miscalculation on the the webassessor end.

I encountered the same issue – an exam score that would be passing using the weighted score calculations but received a “fail” there is also a post about this on Reddit.
I have a case opened with Salesforce support, so hopefully that can resolve it
I am assuming its an issue in the pass/score testing algorithms.

        Hi Manmohan

Did you receive any feedback from webassessor/trailhead? I just took the Platform Developer 1 Certification and based off Score Checker, I should have passed with 72% but did not pass. I opened a ticket with them and I update you guys if I receive any information

    2. Emna Masmoudi

i have the same issue, yesteday took the exam and those are my results and got Fail as answer.
      Section-Level Scoring:
      Developer Fundamentals: 71%
      Process Automation and Logic: 77%
      User Interface: 81%
      Testing, Debugging, and Deployment: 54%

any idea what to do ?

Cleared PD1 few days ago on my first try. Thanks to Focus on Force. FoF study guides and practice exams really helped me a lot as I don’t have previous work experience on Salesforce. Along with FoF materials I also have gone through salesforce documentation for some topics. My exam had many questions on Integrations both inbound and outbound which was not covered in detail in PD1 exam guide. Suggesting to add those topics so that it will b useful for others.
